Gen 1 G1000 backlighting

I have the gen 1 suite and the buttons have backlighting but the actual panel does not. Has anyone tried to modify and add backlighting to their Gen 1s? I just got back into the flight sim world and I really don't want to drop another 2 grand if I can help it right now.

There is no really a good way to accomplish this as this not only would require fabricating a new version of the faceplate with backlighting but also adding the backlights on PCB. We wanted to offer an upgrade option but after some time realized it won't really be practically possible as it would require changes to most of the hardware parts.
