Rotary encoders on GNS 530 and Mobiflight

Hi,
I wanted to use my GNS 530 to control the G1000 as well so I setup Mobiflight (following the tutorial on YT linked here) which works great for the push-buttons, but for the rotary encoders it just sort of work. It often misses a turn and is just not reliable enough to be useable. I tried another HW device with rotary encoders and this worked fine and quite reliable. I tried connecting both to On-press, On-release and On-hold. On-release works best, but it misses many movement on the encoder.
Is there any trick to these encoders?

As I like to minimise the amount of apps running in the back ground and already use Mobiflight i wanted to add the FlightSimBuilders GNS530 controls to Mobiflights interface, after setting up all the buttons I noticed that the encoders only worked every so often.

Basically I found that the rotary encoders on the GNS530 need to be changed from the default 5 to 1, this can be done by following these three steps below:

Encoder Speed Hardware Adjustment

Encoder Speed Mode: This will enable to increase / decrease encoder speed mode on a scale from 1 to 10 (by default it's 5).

However currently, if you increase beyond 5, X-Plane / MSFS will not be able to read it.

(1) Press and hold the Right Small Knob for 3 seconds.

The bottom red LED one the left side of the unit will light up indicating you are in Encoder Speed mode.
(Please Note: I had to take the back off the unit to see the light at the bottom right when facing the back of the unit or left if facing the front of the unit)

(2) To change the Encoder Speed rotate the Right Small Knob, anticlockwise to decrease and clockwise to increase, as an example turning it one notch anticlockwise and stopping will reduce by 1 from its current setting. once you stop turning the red LED will blink several times indicating the new encoder speed (i.e. 5 blinks - encoder speed is set to 5)

(3) Exit Encoder Speed Change. "Right Small Knob Press"
